Coffee Packaging Artwork Guidelines
Use this checklist to reduce revisions and make the proofing process easier.
Preferred file formats
Adobe Illustrator (AI), editable PDF and EPS files are preferred for production artwork. Keep a copy of the original editable file. Linked photographs should be included or embedded.
Color and image setup
- Build artwork in CMYK unless a specific spot color has been agreed.
- Use images at approximately 300 DPI at final print size.
- Do not judge final print color only from an uncalibrated phone or monitor.
Fonts, bleed and safe area
- Convert fonts to outlines or supply the required font files.
- Extend backgrounds and images through the bleed area shown on the dieline.
- Keep logos and important text inside the marked safe area.
- Do not move seals, zipper lines, valves or other functional marks on the supplied dieline.
Barcodes and small text
Leave clear space around barcodes and avoid placing them over folds, seals or highly textured artwork. Final scan performance depends on barcode size, contrast, print process and substrate, so test the final code before approval.
What happens after submission?
Files are reviewed for basic print readiness and placed on the agreed bag template. You receive a design proof to check content, position and orientation. Production should begin only after the final proof and specification are approved.
